Forecast models indicate widespread showers and thunderstorms across KwaZulu-Natal, including the eThekwini region, which may continue into the evening. These weather conditions could result in flooding of roads, bridges, and settlements, poor driving conditions, and damage to mud-based houses. Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution, reduce speed, and maintain a safe following distance when driving on wet roads.

The municipality’s Disaster Management Directorate and emergency services remain on high alert, actively monitoring forecasts and ready to respond where necessary.

Residents are advised to:

• Stay indoors if possible and avoid unnecessary travel.
• Take extra safety precautions in flood-prone areas, especially in informal settlements.
• Avoid crossing swollen rivers and streams.

This alert is subject to change as SAWS continues to monitor weather patterns and will issue updates as needed. For emergencies, residents can contact the City’s Disaster Management Centre on 031 361 0000.
