The races were divided into 10km, 21.1km, and 42.2km categories. KZNA had also announced that it was a Comrades and Two Oceans marathon qualifier.

Sapphire Coast Tourism, which played a big part in promoting the event, said while it was tough at times, the runners gave it their all and conquered it.

“A huge thank you to the Amanzimtoti Athletics Club for hosting yet another fantastic event, and to all the marshals, volunteers, water table teams, motorcyclists, KZNA and supporters who made the day possible,” it said.

Sapphire Coast Tourism’s Romy Wenzel comfortably won the women’s 21.1km race with a 10-minute gap between her and the second-placed athlete.
