Umbogintwini scouts craft a raft [Pics]

Practise and preparation are in full swing for 1st Umbogintwini Scouts as they work on their teamwork and crafting for the Enduro Raft Race.

WHEN the time had come to get their hands dirty and get to work constructing a practice raft in preparation for the 2026 Enduro Raft Race, 1st Umbogintwini Scouts were more than up to the task.

During a recent troop camp at Lake Eland, scouts focused on building troop morale and building a practice raft. The unique and exciting raft race, which is scheduled to take place on March 1 at Baynesfield Dam, will see enthusiastic participation from the KZN district.

“In addition to the raft build, scouts enjoyed a wide range of activities that strengthened their outdoor skills and teamwork. These included fishing, cycling, baking bread, cooking their own meals, building shelters, and a very popular paintball session. The camp provided a fun, hands-on experience while reinforcing key scouting skills and camaraderie,” said Adele Wilson of 1st Umbogintwini Scouts.
