The host coach, Bheki Ncube, said the game was played to prepare for the upcoming season and to test the new players who joined the team from the recent trials.

“We also wanted to see how comfortable they are in a game scenario after training with the team for a week-and-a-half,” said Ncube.

The game was not played in the usual format of two halves of 45 minutes each, but of three thirds at 30 minutes each. Ncube said this format allows for a break after 30 minutes so that players can receive some coaching. It also allowed for much-needed water breaks as the weather was very humid.

While One Nation FC won the game 4-2, Ncube said the match gave the coaching staff insight as to where improvement is needed. The season kicks off in April.
