Stolen items worth millions recovered in Illovo township
Stolen items worth millions were recovered from two shipping containers and is believed to be linked to criminal activities.
AN OPERATION in Illovo township by the metro police led to the recovery of a truck, its trailer, and several other suspected stolen items worth R8.5m on June 12.

Metro police spokesperson, Colonel Boysie Zungu, said the intelligence-led operation was carried out by officers from the dog unit.
“While conducting patrols, officers located a truck, trailer, and two shipping containers matching the description circulated through law enforcement channels. Further investigation revealed that the truck, trailer, and one of the containers were linked to various criminal cases under investigation by the police,” said Zungu.
With the assistance of the Amanzimtoti Fire Department, access was gained to the containers, where a large quantity of suspected stolen property was recovered. Recovered items included motorcycles, vehicle parts, household appliances, furniture, clothing, tools, tyres, commercial goods, and various other items believed to be linked to criminal activities.
All recovered property was seized and booked into police custody pending further investigation.
