The highly-anticipated first shoals along the South Coast were netted on June 13 after seine netters successfully hauled in the first net at Port Edward.

Ward 97 councillor, André Beetge said that although the visibility was poor on June 14, shark nets were officially removed and bathing is prohibited at Umgababa, Karridene, Winklespruit, Pipeline and Isipingo beaches. Nets at Amanzimtoti Main and Warner Beach are still in place and both beaches are presently open for bathing.

Stay tuned for more updates on the sardine run, as netters prepare for their hauls.
