Water supply interruption affects Central and South eThekwini
Scheduled maintenance of the South Coast Augmentation Pipeline will impact the water supply across Central and South regions of eThekwini.
THE eThekwini Municipality advises residents and businesses in parts of the Central and South Regions of a temporary interruption to water supply due to essential maintenance on the South Coast Augmentation (SCA) Pipeline. It commenced from 18:00 today (August 26) and will run until 22:00.

The Municipality released a statement explaining that the shutdown is required to complete maintenance work on the 800mm South Coast Augmentation pumping trunk main, including repairs to air valve leaks and pipework leaks, as well as the replacement of an air valve.
The work will support the operation of the water supply system feeding the Amanzimtoti Water Works.
“The Municipality will endeavour to complete the work within the scheduled period and restore water supply as soon as possible. However, residents may experience a gradual return of supply after the shutdown as the network is re-pressurised,” read the statement.
