THE Durban Metro Police Service has urged motorists to check and pay any outstanding traffic fines or warrants and make the necessary payments.

This comes after 150 drivers were arrested between August 31 and September 4 in various areas of eThekwini, including the South Coast, for outstanding warrants.

Metro police spokesperson, Boysie Zungu, said that of the 150 people arrested, 115 paid the outstanding fines and were released.

“The other 35 people remained in custody for further legal proceedings,” said Zungu.

Contact the metro traffic fines department on 031 311 2861 /2 /3, or visit the metro police headquarters at 16 Archie Gumede Place, Durban between 07:30 and 15:00 from Monday to Friday. An email can be sent to Traffic.fines@durban.gov.za
