Convincing victory kicks off cricket season

ACC will be in action on an away game against Veralum.

THIS past Sunday, 29 September, Amanzimtoti Cricket Club’s (ACC) first team had their first league game, as they played host to Hillary Malvern at the Lords Oval..

Both teams were eager to start the season and the game played out with the spirit of cricket being paramount.

A special word of thanks to Paul Wilson and Rex Hindman for preparing an exceptional pitch despite the inclement weather over the weekend.

ACC were victorious with 112 runs, thereby securing a bonus point. The man of the match was Cameron Mill who scored 34 runs and took four wickets for only 23 runs in his allotted 10 overs. Aiden Hughes also bowled well, taking four wickets for 24 runs in his 10 overs.

This all started with some excellent upfront bowling by Warren Fry and Kyle Jones, who created pressure and made it very difficult for the opposing team to score runs. Warren only conceded nine runs in eight overs with six of them being maidens.

This coming weekend ACC will be in action in an away game against Veralum. The club wishes them all the best.
