Kingsway High School’s Emma Gys stood out among more than 100 figure skaters, achieving fifth place in the Singles Gold U19 Women’s category.

The event was hosted by the Western Province branch of the SA Figure Skating Association (SAFSA), bringing together skaters to compete, learn and share their love of the sport.

SAFSA KZN’s Jo Cossavella expressed immense pride in Emma for taking up the challenge of competing away from home.

Cossavella encouraged the public, children and adults alike, to experience the joy of skating during public sessions at Galleria Ice Rink, Galleria Shopping Centre, Amanzimtoti.

“Whether you dream of gliding across the ice, learning something new or one day taking part in a competition, every skating journey starts with that first step or, in this case, that first glide. Who knows? The next young skater to make KZN proud could be you,” said Cossavella.
