Spring has arrived and Toti’s cricketers are looking ahead to a full and exciting season.
“Amanzimtoti Cricket Club (ACC) is fielding five senior teams and five junior sides this season,” said chairman, Rex Hindman.
The season gets underway on Sunday, 27 September for juniors, while some of the senior sides are already into their pre-season warm-up games.
“We plan to field an U15 team for the first time in a number of years, but the club needs more players, two U13 and two U11 sides and five senior teams.”
Junior fees are R375 and seniors R475 for the year, plus R150 for a team shirt and cap.
ACC now has the luxury of a level three head coach who will coach the first team, plus four qualified coaches who lead practise for juniors on Mondays and Wednesdays at Hutchison Park from 4.30pm. Seniors practise on Tuesdays and Fridays from 5pm in the nets.
“We aim to be competitive in all age groups and expect big things from all the sides. At junior level, the first team in each age group will play in the Northern league and the second teams in the Southern league.
First teams will be competitive and focused on results, while the second team will be more aimed at improving individual skills and the development of cricket in general.”
Registration is still open for all teams and anyone who wishes to join is welcome to turn up for practise or to contact the club for details. Junior teams can contact manager, Dean Carson on 083-555-2070; senior teams, contact first team manager, Rex Hindman on 072-501-8363 or secretary, Pieter Venter on 079-777-5810.
