Winkle favours family fun day format for trips next Sunday

THE overall winners of the women’s Caltex Warner Beach trips played on Wednesday, 11 May were Lulu Bingham, Sylveigh Ananiadis and Trish Farmer. Second session winners were Maureen Warrior, Denise Bingham and Jeanette Clarence.
Di Kruger was the winner of the 100 board and Jeanette Els won the spider. The mystery prize was won by Vera Broskie.
Gerald Chalder-Royle, Ken Leech and Gustav Somers were overall winners in the men’s Kwik Spar trips played on Thursday, 12 May. Second session winners were Allan Duncan, Vish Studinski and Brian Cox. Tony Cam won the 100 board.
The winner of the attendance draw on Friday evening was Lionel Bruce. Due to his absence, it will be a roll over.
Eddie Bingham beat Allan Duncan in the second round of the men’s club singles champions competition. In the first round of the mixed nominated pairs, Bill and Linda Hobbs beat Mike and Di Kruger. Eddie Bingham and Trish Farmer were the victors over Brian Pasfield and Lulu Bingham. In the women’s nominated pairs Estelle Van Der Merwe and Sylveigh Ananiadis beat Elaine Critchlow and Maureen Griffin. Sandy Snyman and Brian Pasfield were victors over Eddie Bingham and Sylveigh Ananiadis in the mixed drawn 2-4-2. In the women’s nominated 2-4-2 Elmarie Young and Lulu Bingham beat Elaine Critchlow and Maureen Griffin. Brian Bodley was victorious over Dries Snyman in the second round of the men’s singles championship.
There will be an evening meal on Friday, 20 May. Indicate on list on the notice board if you will be attending, for catering reasons.
The Clearwater Spur mixed 2-4-2 will be played on Saturday, 21 May.
There will be no mixed trips on Sunday, 22 May. The trips will be played on 29 May and will not be the normal format but will be a more casual family fun day. It will be a mixed (man/woman) competition for bowlers and non-bowlers. Dress will be casual wear (mufti) with flat soled shoes. Prizes will be awarded to the overall and second session winners. There will be a bring and braai after the game. Pap and gravy will be provided. Cost per player is R20, which includes pap and gravy, and R10 for non-players which includes tea or coffee, pap and gravy.
There will be social bowls on Wednesday and Friday afternoons, with the winter starting time now in effect, at 1.45pm for 2pm.
