Umgababa underdogs fast track SKZN lifesaving champs victory

Fast Track is focused going forward

UNDERDOGS of South Coast lifesaving, team Fast Track of Umgababa were crowned winners of the KZN South Lifesaving championships held over the past weekend.

Despite all odds, the relatively newly established team excelled in the variety of events set out at the St Michael’s based lifesaving champs in Shelly Beach.

“I thank each and every member of Fast Track for creating such a team. I never imagined that one day we would be crowned KZN South champions, especially this soon,” said chairman of Fast Track Surf Lifesaving Club, Sbonelo Mbeko.

Having only formed in 2007, the Umgababa team are sure their achievement will go down in the club’s history.

“We may have been without equipment, but we were there in numbers and determination,” said Sbonelo.

Fast Track members are particularly grateful to fellow clubs Warnadoone and Scottburgh, which shared their equipment eagerly, enabling the team to participate in many more events.

“Although we were competing against them, it never felt like it,” said Sbonelo.

“We are so grateful to all the clubs for supporting us throughout the champs, for helping us reach our potential.”

Fast Track is focused going forward and plans to take their club to new heights. Those who are interested in joining in their progress, call 082-793-1964 or email mbekosbonelo@gmail.com for more information.
