Wet weather dampens play at Winklespruit Bowling Club

All members are urged to wear club colours when playing or marking in club competitions. This excludes white shirts with the club badge.

The wet weather played havoc with Winklespruit Bowling Club’s (WBC) bowls competitions in the early part of last week which resulted in the green being closed.

Social bowls was played on Wednesday, 2 June, and Friday, 4 June, and a full green of club competitions took place on Saturday morning, 5 June. Thanks to those who volunteered to mark the singles games.

All members are urged to wear club colours when playing or marking in club competitions. This excludes white shirts with the club badge.

Barry Hilton completed the measuring skills section of the markers course that he presented to the members. It was beneficial and informative and the attendees will find it helpful when marking games in the future.

In the women’s senior singles competition Lou Bingham beat Margaret van Belkum.

In the men’s championship singles Ivan van den Bergh beat André Gelderblom and in the men’s championship singles Steve Liebetrau beat Alan Duncan.

The mixed nominated 2-4-2 saw Barrie and Shirley de Wee beat Freddy Hetterscheidt and Sheila Court; and Rob Hilton and Elmarie Young beat Hans and Linda de Waal.

Thursday, 10 June, sees the Victory Kwik Spar and Tops men’s trips, registration at 8.30am for 9am.

Port Natal men’s and women’s league players need to check the notice board for teams and venue.

Sunday, 13 June, sees the Upper South Coast nomads competition take place, registration at 8.30am for 9am.

Saturday, 19 June, sees the Moth Club Fun Day take place.

Social bowls every Wednesday and Friday, tabs in at 2pm for 2.30pm.

The attendance draw was conducted on Friday, 4 Juned and Keith Holmes’ number was drawn, he was present and won the prize. A new draw will take place at the next event.

Covid-19 compliant rules are in operation at the club.
