Entries open for Sapphire Coast Marathon

Athletes participating in the Goss and Balfe Sapphire Coast Marathon 10km race can look forward to an exciting new route this year.

SAPPHIRE Coast Tourism is excited to welcome runners, spectators and supporters to the highly anticipated Goss & Balfe Sapphire Coast Marathon on October 27.

This early qualifier for the Comrades Marathon, organised by Amanzimtoti Athletics Club (AAC), is a great opportunity for athletes and visitors to experience this coastal gem.

Lynette Botha of AAC said there will be an exciting new route for the 10km race, taking runners along Beach Road and onto the promenade, while the 2023 routes for the 21.1km and 42.2km race will remain.

“This annual event is a great preparation for the Comrades Marathon, and we encourage spectators to come out in full support of our incredible athletes. A massive thanks to event sponsors, Goss & Balfe, as well as Suzuki Amanzimtoti who will again sponsor the leading cars and the bailer bus to assist our athletes,” she said.

Romy Wenzel of Sapphire Coast Tourism said this is another example of the region’s incredible sporting event potential and the ideal opportunity for visitors to experience the Sapphire Coast.

The 10km and 21.1km races start at 06:00 and the 42.2km at 05:30. The venue is AAC at Hutchison Park, 1 Riverside Road. Early bird entries close on October 6 and late entries on October 20.

Shirts will be given to early bird entries only, and medals will be given to all finishers. To enter, visit www.eventtiming.co.za. For more information, contact toti.ac.racedirector@gmail.com or 079 467 6457.
