SOME very good news from Amanzimtoti Golf Club; our women's captain, Jacqui Porrill and our up-and-coming young golfing star Elsune Roode have been selected to join the KZN squad.
Well done to both of them, and we look forward to seeing them make their mark on the provincial golfing scene.
Results from last week’s competitions; Wednesday’s IPS competition had a good turnout with 31 players taking the afternoon off work to chase a little white ball around the course, and the top three players all finished on 38 points. By way of a count out, the order of placing was Brian Algate, Martin Rumbelow and Phelp Stephenson.
The Friday nine hole sundowner competition attracted a field of 27 players, and Norbert Dupont took the win with 21 points, followed by Tommy McNaughton and Sheldon Grant on 19 points apiece.
On Saturday, 78 men contested the individual medal Stableford competition, with Hu Turnbull taking the honours on 43 points, followed by Mike Halse, Steve Conlan and Johny Vogel all on 42 points. The nearest the pins on the fourth and 15th went to Mike Igesund and Tony van Niekerk. The jackpot wasn’t won so carries over to next weekend, and the attendance prize was won by Fred Wallace.
The women played a 4BBB format, and winners on the day were the team of Jebby Dyson and Wladzia Olivier with 44 points, followed by Ina de Boer and Jacky Dunlop on 43, and in third place by virtue of a count out was Gerda Heydenrych and Charmain Stone on 42 points. Nearest the pin on the seventh was won by Delene Berry and Jacky Dunlop had a two club on the 15th.
This coming Saturday the men play a combined stableford, while the ladies will be playing IPS.
The course is playing really well, so come on down and play a round of golf at Toti golf club. Phone the pro shop on 031-902-4144 to book a time.
