AFRICA Cares for Life, a non-profit organisation, hosts a pregnancy crisis counselling training course to enhance counselling techniques and to equip one to understand people in crisis.
It takes place at the Lionsgate Church, at 24 Queens Terrace in Doonside from Tuesday to Friday, 5 to 8 May from 9am to 3pm.
The trainer is Danielle Gradwell. The cost is R800.
Although this course is based on pregnancy counselling, the seven fundamentals can be used in all types of counselling. The content of the training covers the seven fundamentals of Christian crisis counselling: Speak the truth in love; be ministers not manipulators; everyone is sending out an SOS; the four qualities of an effective helper; five communication skills; six phases of a crisis and the six steps to crisis intervention.
