Talented artists to rock Durban at Imbokodo Jazz Festival

For every ticket sold, the festival will donate R10 towards the Ethembeni Crisis Care Centre.

With Women’s Month on the horizon, female singers and artists are set to dominate the Imbokodo Jazz Festival (IJF) taking place at the Durban Exhibition Centre in Durban on Saturday, 4 August 2018.

The IJF, in partnership with eThekwini Municipality, has pulled all the stops to ensure the festival pleases Durban’s discerning jazz-loving public.

Artists line-up includes crowd favourite, Sibongile Khumalo, a consummate professional who needs no introduction, Talie Monin, aka Nqobile Mchunu, the 2017 Montreux Jazz Festival Audience Choice Winner, Mimi Mtshali, who won the Metro FM Award for Best Jazz Album, Nomfundo Xaluva, who holds a master’s degree in jazz studies from UCT, and Heels over Head, an all-female jazz band.

For this festival, Toti’s Sibusiso ‘Mash’ Mashiloane will present compositions from his upcoming album titled ‘Closer to Home’ to be released in September. He will also play music from his previous album titled ‘Rotha’.

Mash will feature three powerful women in the Durban music industry on stage, vocalist Zoe ‘The Seed’ Masuku, saxophonist Nokwanda Nkala and flutist Nokwanda Mthembu.
