How to help your child make an Easter floral wreath

To make an Easter floral wreath, you will need a grapevine wreath base, floral wire, a hot glue gun, and fresh or artificial flowers.

Easter is a time of renewal and new beginnings, and what better way to celebrate than by making a beautiful floral wreath with your child?

Read on for a list of items you need, as well as step-by-step instructions on how to make a stunning Easter floral wreath with your child.

Items you will need

  • A grapevine wreath base
  • Floral wire or hot glue gun
  • A selection of fresh or artificial flowers and foliage
  • Ribbon or twine for hanging
  • Optional: Easter-themed decorations, such as miniature eggs, bunnies, or chicks

How to make it

  1. Start by preparing your grapevine wreath base. You can purchase this from a craft store or make your own by weaving grapevines together. If you choose to make your own, make sure the wreath is sturdy enough to hold the weight of the flowers and decorations.
  2. Help your child gather a selection of fresh or artificial flowers and foliage in Easter colours, such as pastel pinks, blues, yellows, and greens. You can choose to use a variety of flowers or stick to one type for a cohesive look. Add miniature Easter-themed decorations, such as miniature eggs, bunnies, or chicks.
  3. Cut your flowers and foliage into small sprigs, leaving enough stem to attach them to the wreath. Remove any leaves or thorns that may get in the way of attaching the flowers.
  4. Using floral wire or a hot glue gun, attach the flowers and foliage to the grapevine wreath base. Help your child start by placing the larger flowers first, such as roses or peonies, and then fill in the gaps with smaller flowers and foliage. Make sure to space the flowers and foliage evenly around the wreath. Add Easter-themed decorations.
  5. Finally, attach a ribbon or twine to the top of the wreath for hanging. Choose a colour that complements the colours of the flowers or a neutral colour that will blend in with any décor.
  6. Let your child display their beautiful Easter floral wreath on their bedroom door, or as a centrepiece on your dining table. Your child will be proud of the beautiful creation they helped make!
