GALLERY: Nursed back to health, Bentley finally finds a home
“An angel by the name of Genna Azzie walked into JSPCA and when she saw Bentley, it was love at first sight for both.”
When Bentley was found by the Johannesburg SPCA she was about one month old, running scared and hungry and covered in mange.
The odds were not on her side.
“At her young age and with the aggressive treatment of anti-parasitic drugs, weekly dips, special shampoo and vaccinations taking their toll on her little body it was tough going for her,” said Liana Marx from JSPCA.
She explained there was also the mental aspect impacting on little Bently because she had to be totally isolated from humans and other animals due to her condition.
“In these crucial early months of a puppy’s life, socialisation is very important for a well-balanced and adjusted puppy.
“With loads of love, care and treatment, Bentley made the slow physical recovery and turned into a beautiful little pup with an amazing and loving personality,” she said.
There were still, however, some concerns on how she would get on with other dogs and if she would trust humans again.
“An angel by the name of Genna Azzie walked into JSPCA and when she saw Bentley, it was love at first site for both.
“Bentley did spectacularly at the meet-and-greet with Genna’s other fur baby, and we can confidently say the two dogs will be great friends,” said Marx.
JSPCA would like to thank Genna and her family for giving Bentley a chance to be a happy, spoilt little dog.
“Thank you to everyone who shared Bentley’s story when she was advertised a few weeks ago and kept regular follow-ups on her progress. She has turned into such a sweet little girl and we know she will have the best life possible,” Marx said.
