Glitz and glamour at Hello Joburg July

Travelling hundreds of kilometres for the “thrill of the Vodacom Durban July” and some horse racing action is a thing of the past.

Hello Joburg Magazine and partners hosted the very first Joburg July event at Turffontein race course on July 6 where celebrities included singer and Step Up or Step Out presenter Dalen Lance, renowned singer Wanda Baloyi, actor Leroy Gopal and other well-known personalities.

“This is a first for me, I’m usually down in Durban but I was intrigued by this event because I thought ‘what’s to be expected’, is this just going to be a carbon copy of the Durban July? But they’ve really gone out of their way with the food and the décor as well as the entertainment, to pull out a really snazzy event,” said Lance.

Actor Leroy Gopal was there celebrating his birthday on the day with his wife, his brother and his brothers girlfriend.

Attendees had a choice of two function areas, the ANOUCHKA VODKA VIP area included private VIP lounge area, private bar and waiters, luxury leather couches, cocktail tables and seating, private VIP outside area, mini hand/neck massages supplied by The Pyramid Day SPA, Tote betting booths, five course buffet lunch and an open bar throughout the day. The Classic area included entrance into Hello Joburg July, a separate comfortable seating area, private outside seating and bar area, Tote betting facilities as well as private bar access and food court.

People flocked onto the dance floor when Soul Candi DJ’s took to the decks. SoulSista, Beat Army, Kid Fonque and Shorty had the crowd dancing all night long in the VIP area.

The event was a raging success with many guests saying that they will not miss future Hello Joburg July events.
