Looking back over the year 2013
April came with its own ups and downs, here's a look back at everything that went down.
April
*Glenanda residents up in arms over development. After the article, ‘Another complex for Glenanda’ appeared in the Comaro CHRONICLE on March 27, page 1, other residents have written to the paper with their objections.
*Worlds’ dumbest thief. Alveena Naiker, a Glenanda resident was shopping at Checkers in Columbine on Tuesday March 19, where her car key and car were stolen within seconds.
*Dias competes in world championship. Ricky Dias with over 20 years’ experience in Taekwondo and currently a 4th Dan, will be competing in the Senior World Championships.
*Unbeaten streak for Alex. Gauteng Canoe Union Sprint Trials took place at Roodeplaat Dam on Sunday March 10 to identify the team selection for the South African Sprints later in the year, as well as give the younger paddlers an opportunity to practice racing in the sprint lanes before the major SA School competition of the year in April.
*SP Group of Companies makes its mark in South. A man with a dream, SP Pereira, chairman of SP Group of Companies, began his forward thinking way back in 1994, when he realised the South of Joburg was being left behind by neighbours in the North.
*Eye of Africa site of new television series. The premier of Eye of Africa Golf & Residential Estate south of Johannesburg, was selected as the perfect site for the Mzantsi Magic’s new television series, “Rockville”, and filming began at one of the beautiful homes on the estate last week.
SA Wheelchair team victorious. South African Wheelchair Basketball u.23 team will be representing Africa at the World Championship.
*’Kirsty wanted to be sacrificed’. Harvey Isha, Robin Harwood, Lindon Wagner and Courtney Daniels, who was the minor at the time of the crime, pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, attempted murder and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm in High Court on April 17.
