Naturena Primary top learner dies with Mum and fiancée

With sympathy and grief, Southern COURIER and all the people of Joburg said, “May your souls rest in peace and our sincere condolences.”

NATURENA – On Monday January 6, Naturena Primary 2013 Grade 5 top awards winner Sisanda Nkosi (12), his beloved Mum Somahle Msimang (38) and her fiancée died in a horrible accident.

The news spread like wildfire in and around Naturena including neighbouring suburbs, leaving everyone, particularly next door neighbours at Kariba Lodge Naturena, in a state of shock.

The unexpected accident happened between Secunda and Ekurhuleni on the notorious N17 route. According to statistics released on Tuesday January 7 by the RTMC, the official road death toll was 1 174 countrywide since December 1 last year.

Sisanda’s grandmother Thandiwe Maureen Tshabalala (57) sadly said that her daughter Somahle and grandson were on holiday at her daughter’s fiancée Karen Sono in Secunda. And on their way back from the holidays, they died in unforeseen circumstances on the N17.

“In fact my daughter’s car was due for a service the following day and she was on her way home to sort it out. Last week, on Monday January 6 at about 08:50 my daughter, her son and boyfriend were involved in a terrible accident, and unfortunately they all passed away.

“They were my only surviving family; all I am left with now is my sister and my partner. I am trying very hard to cope; it is not easy as I was very close to them,” she said.

Both mother and son were buried on Saturday January 11 at Lenasia Cemetery, Johannesburg South.

However the fiancée Karen Sono from Secunda will be laid to rest somewhere in Limpopo on Saturday January 18.

With sympathy and grief, Southern COURIER and all the people of Joburg said, “May your souls rest in peace and our sincere condolences.”
