
BOOYSENS – From May 19 to 25, a total of 85 arrests were made by Booysens SAPS.
These arrests include: Six – assault common, six – assault GBH, one – attempted theft, seven – business robbery, two – contravention of the liquor act, 21 – drunk and driving, 14 – drug related crimes, one – fraud, one – house breaking and theft, six – malicious damage to property, four – possession of suspected stolen goods, three – possession of unlicensed firearm, two – rape, three – shoplifting, six – theft and two – theft of motor vehicle.
Possession of unlicensed firearm
On Monday May 19 at 16:00, members of Booysens VISPOL Support unit were patrolling in the Bellavista area when they noticed a white VW Golf which was being driven by an unknown male. They followed the vehicle that was driving towards the park. When the vehicle stopped, two unknown males jumped into the car and the vehicle drove towards Turf Club Street. The members stopped the vehicle and introduced themselves as police officers. They did not find anything on the people in the car, however, when searching the vehicle, they found a firearm. All occupants of the vehicle were arrested and taken to Booysens SAPS for further investigation.
