Southgate Mall robbed

Security guard was shot in the leg while giving chase after the robbery.

JOHANNESBURG – On Wednesday June 04, five suspects entered the Mall and robbed the Autopage store at gunpoint. There were no customers in store at the time of the incident.

The Mall contacted SAPS who arrived at the scene and are investigating the matter. The suspects are believed to have fled in a green Nissan bakkie – registration number PTH719GP.

One of the security officers who attempted to apprehend the suspects from escaping the scene, was shot in the leg and sustained injuries for which he is receiving treatment.

Southgate Mall said in a statement, “We appeal to the community at large to report any relevant information relating to the robbery to the SAPS.”
