Speeding car hits concrete barrier and wall

Third time lucky: There have been three accidents in almost the same spot.

WINCHESTER HILLS – At about 21:00 on Sunday August 17 a speeding car hit the concrete barrier and then the wall where Zohra Seedat lives in Winchester Hills, Rifle Range Road.

On this year’s Valentine’s Day another car hit her wall and her neighbour’s wall was hit previously. A sharp curve along Rifle Range Road from Crown Gardens towards Chrisville might be the cause of the accident.

“We heard a loud bang, on investigating we saw a man sitting in his car. He sat there for almost an hour; he didn’t want to come out of the car even when the ambulance came. Only when his relative came, he told him he was injured,” explained Zohra Seedat.

Zohra’s plea to the municipality is to put more visible measures to alert motorists about this sharp curve. There are three chevrons which indicate the curve, however she thinks more signs or even speed humps can be erected.

SHATTERED: The concrete and steel barrier was crushed to the side of the road.
