Man killed as carjacking goes wrong in South Hills

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH –  A 41-year-old man died after he and his 36-year-old friend stopped to give a man a lift in South Hills on Tuesday, September 16.

The suspect looked innocent on Southern Klipriviersberg Road, where he was seen asking for a lift.

The two men stopped for him but were surprised when he pointed a firearm at them.

The 41-year-old, who was on the passenger seat, tried to take the firearm from the suspect but that led to a shot which took his life.

The suspect is a coloured man who is still believed to be in the South Hills veld.

The police are still searching for this man. Anyone who sees him or a suspicious man should not approach him but contact the authorities.
