Heritage Day celebrated in South Hills

This day keeps connecting people

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The South Hills community rocked up traditional outfits to embrace all heritage traditions of people living in the South, at a Heritage Day event at South Hills Recreation Centre on Wednesday September 24.

Tables were set and residents came in their numbers to celebrate the wonderful day, which connected community members of the South.

A joyful Councillor Faeeza Chame said: “Heritage means we have to go back to our roots. We decided to host this event as a the start of new beginnings in the community.”

The event also attracted Cllr Dennis Jane from a different ward, who said: “Heritage Day means we have to reflect on our roots and participate in events that remind us of our roots. In a country with a wide variety of traditions like South Africa, this day makes it possible for these traditions to be celebrated.”

“We want to thank all the sponsors who helped make this event possible: Pick n Pay, Agi from South Hills local Bakery, Ricky from Meat CO, Sunrise, and the entire community,” Delores MacKenzie added.
