Vandals cover walls with graffiti

A request to JRA for the bridge to be cleaned up is underway.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The bridge in Gleneagles, near Builders Warehouse, has been targeted by vandals who have covered the walls with graffiti.

The graffiti indicates that it could be advertising for a clothing website. When you visit the website, it says it is still under construction and redirects visitors to a Facebook page where budding entrepreneurs advertise their merchandise.

While some may call the graffiti vandalism, and others use it as an opportunity for free advertising, the law has classified this as vandalism of property.

Ward 56 Clr Dennis Jane told the COURIER that he will take all the necessary steps to ensure that the graffiti colouring various properties in the south will be cleaned up.

“Removing graffiti is JRA’s (Johannesburg Roads Agency) responsibility, so I will send a request to JRA to have it cleaned up,” said Jane.

Numerous attempts to make contact with the clothing company for comment were unsuccessful.
