Moffatview SAPS make 20 arrests

As part of the nationwide Operation Fiela, Moffatview SAPS and Booysens SAPS patrolled the South’s streets from July 30 to August 1.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Operation Fiela kicked off in the Southern Johannesburg suburbs as Moffatview SAPS clamped down on crime between Thursday, July 30, and Saturday, August 1.

Booysens SAPS also joined the Booysens Detective and Vispol officers in tracing suspects and raiding well-known drug houses in the South.

“Operation Fiela is an operation that has been embarked upon nationwide in an effort to combat crime in the country,” said communications officer, constable Rebecca Bila.

The officers found 16 meters of copper cable, 46 counterfeit CDs, two knives, 33 750ml Castle Lager beers, 12 660ml Windhoek beers, eight 750ml Black Label beers, one hacksaw, one blade, one bolt cutter and crystal meth.

Moffatview police arrested suspects for these crimes:

Assault with grievous bodily harm – one

Illegal immigrants – 13

Contravention of the secondhand goods act – three

Contravention of liquor act – one

Possession of drugs – one and

Possession of stolen goods – one.
