Scientists in our midst

Their rocket was tested and launched in Meyerton.

FOUR Grade 11 learners from Kenilworth High School participated in the Rocketry Science fair project at the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Newtown during the recent school holidays.

These learners were taught many things including the history of gun powder, rocket science and space waves. One of the learners who participated in the project, Paulette Maselwa, said after the training at Sci-Bono, the learners went to Meyerton to test and launch the rocket which they had built.

“We are very excited as we received a Level One Certificate at the Rocketry Science fair project at Sci-Bono, for our effort to build the rocket. Our team used fuel and oxidizer as a source of energy,” explained Paulette.

She also mentioned that they need a hall at Kenilworth High School in order to practise and make more rockets.
