Plans for the youth
Zasha Africa Entertainment has big plans to benefit the youth in the South.
VUSI Mvubu from the Booysens informal settlement is once again engaged in a project to benefit young people of the South and steer them away from drugs and deviant activities.
On Tuesday, August 30, the COURIER met with Vusi and Meals on Wheels caregiver Christine Crossley at the Reuven Old Age home to discuss Vusi’s plans which he will roll out through Zasha Africa Entertainment.
Zasha is a non-profit organisations that is aimed at aiding young people in the entertainment industry, to make it without having to spend money on booking studios or having to pay for professional guidance and public relations representation.
Zasha is still struggling due to financial difficulties but already has artists and is hosting small music events to raise funds. The organisation led by Vusi was established in 2015 to serve aspiring young entertainers.
“Zasha will give those disadvantaged children a platform to do what they love to do and show others that it is possible to make it without having strong financial backing. Already Zasha has youngsters who make good music and are following their dreams,” said Vusi.
Vusi is also engaged in various other community projects to help the poor people who live in the Booysens informal settlements by training them to plant vegetables, especially since most residents survive by recycling waste.
Zasha founded the Zasha Football Club and plans to host boys’ U.15, U.17 and U.19 soccer play-offs in Glenesk, from Monday, September 19, at the open field opposite the Hector Norris Park and the Rand Stadium, where Orlando Pirates FC trains (previous the training ground for Jomo Cosmos FC).
