Help clean-up The Hill

Their vision is to create a sense of pride in each and every community member and, in so doing, encourage unity and uniformity.

THE Hill Awareness Group (THAG) is a non-profit organisation situated in The Hill and founded as an awareness group to foster a cleaner and safer environment.

Their vision is to create a sense of pride in each and every community member and, in so doing, encourage unity and uniformity.

Steve Dwarika, vice chairman of THAG, said they aim to boom off certain streets that have been identified as ‘hot spots’ and install CCTV cameras. Petitions for the booming off of streets have been signed and will be handed to ward 56 councillor Michael Crichton.

These security plans will enable residents to feel safer and make it more difficult for criminals to go unnoticed in the community.

“We encourage community involvement; we have set up walking groups, chat groups and learning groups. Parks will once again be used as playgrounds; places where each community member and their families can go to rest and relax.

“The first clean-up initiative was launched on Saturday, January 28, and we encourage the community to join us this Saturday, February 4, for the second leg of this initiative. We are meeting at 08:00, on the corner of Yestor and Southern Klipriviersberg roads.

“Once this programme reaches its success we envisage taking it to the surrounding communities,” Dwarika said.
