Donating blood in Abbotts College

“I usually organise at least one blood drive a year and I’m pleased to see more new faces this year wanting to donate blood. It’s a strict process which needs to be followed to make sure the learners qualify to donate.”

ON Wednesday, February 22, the South African National Blood Service visited Abbotts College Johannesburg South, encouraging learners to donate a unit of blood.

Linokuhle Mdakane (Donor Recruitment SANBS) said they are happy with the units of blood given, which stood at 14, but he expected quite a few more as the day went on.

Trish Hunter, a teacher at Abbotts College, said, “I usually organise at least one blood drive a year and I’m pleased to see more new faces this year wanting to donate blood. It’s a strict process which needs to be followed to make sure the learners qualify to donate.”

Principal Willem van Zyl also gave his pint and said he’s proud of all his learners who donated blood.
