
THE body of a homeless man, believed to have been murdered, was found on the corner of Stanton and Leonard streets, in Turffontein, on Saturday, March 4.
Captain Lorraine van Emmerik, Booysens Police communications officer, said officers responded to the scene after receiving a phone call from a member of the public and upon arrival found the body of a black male.
“According to the information received, a passer-by found the body and alerted the police. Rifle cartridges were found on the scene and the deceased had sustained severe injuries. It is estimated that he was about 70 years old and it has been confirmed that he was a known homeless person who stayed in the area. A murder docket has been opened,” she said.
