THE management of Booysens SAPS is warning motorists that they are once again being targeted by criminals when they are parked in driveways and chatting to one another.
Booysens SAPS is issuing this warning because of a recorded increase in robberies taking place in such situations. Motorists are encouraged be observant when sitting in their vehicles and, if possible, go into the premises and chat over a cup of tea instead of sitting in vehicles.
These types of robberies typically take place at night.
The police station has also seen cases where local residents and/or visitors have had their vehicles stolen because they parked outside a yard even though the yard has locking gates.
“This has become a great concern as this crime is still on the increase and incidents are been reported on a daily basis to the mentioned police station.
“Please be aware of what is happening around you at all times. If you see something suspicious, please report it to your closest police station or your local security company,” said communications officer Cpt Lorraine van Emmerik.
