Centre presents free IT training for youth

No fees are required and only unemployed and unskilled youth are accepted

BELIEVERS Care Society (BCS) Youth Development Centre is inviting unskilled, unemployed youth of the South to apply for a skills development training opportunity in information technology (IT).

The development project aims to equip these youth with skills that can make them employable and to provide basic life skills, information and assistance that can help them find employment.

They centre is currently enrolling young people for a 12-months accredited course (PC Technician) in IT (FET: Technical Support – Level 4 with SAQA ID 78964). This course is being funded through the Department of Social Development.

Information technology has become essential in every sphere of career life and key to sustainable economic operations. This qualification reflects the workplace-based needs of the information technology industry as expressed by its stakeholders.

The input has been used to ensure that the qualification provides the learner with accessibility to be employed within the IT industry. People with this qualification have an introductory-level of understanding about computer industry concepts and are able to work in areas of IT with little technical complexity.

Classes will resume on May 8. Training takes place at the Youth Development Centre in Turffontein. Classes are from Monday to Thursday, from 9am to 1pm, and 9am to 2pm on Wednesdays.

Youth interested in this course are encouraged to apply now. To qualify you must be between 17 and 35 years old, a resident of the South, hold a matric certificate or equivalent and be willing to study for the duration of the course and to complete it.

There is no fee. Only unemployed and unskilled youth will be accepted.

Interested parties are required to present a copy of their ID, proof of residence, proof of previous qualification and a short CV. For more information call 011 434 4598/1894 or visit www.believerscaresociety.org.
