THAG spreads Madiba magic

"We are currently in the process of setting up a media centre in the area for learners who are not able to afford computers and internet."

On Mandela Day, The Hill Awareness Group (THAG) NPO in conjunction with other entities did their part in helping their immediate community.

Among other things they collected and distributed non-perishable food for needy families. They had their winter blanket drive in association with 67 blankets for Nelson Mandela driven by Carolyn Steyn.

Gareth Dorrington from THAG said they also fed seniors in old age homes and orphans, sanitary packs were handed out to school children, the needy and homeless. “In the short space of time, THAG has grown in leaps and bounds. We have started the CCTV initiative where one site is up and running and another four is in the process. We cut grass and clean our neighbourhood, we have a weekly soup kitchen feeding more than 180 people, weekly sandwich drive for primary schools and crèches (2 400 sandwiches) and we are currently in the process of setting up a media centre in the area for learners who are not able to afford computers and the internet,” he said.
