Protecting kids from crime

The event was to inform primary school children on the dangers in society and what to do when in danger.

A HUGE effort to educate and inform children was underway south of Johannesburg on Wednesday morning.

The event, titled Kids Against Crime, which was aimed at informing young primary schoolchildren on the dangers in society and what to do when in danger, was held at the Truth and Life Celebration Centre in Rosettenville.

Master of ceremonies Pastor Clint Victor opened proceedings with a prayer.

This was followed by an impactful lineup of public service representatives who came to inform the eager primary schoolchildren on safety, crime, peer pressure and drug abuse.

Speakers were Moffat View police’s very own Constable Nose, Social Development’s Linda Pila, health promoter Tumi Barry, SANCA,and SOS Security’s Martin Barber and Johannes Swanepoel.

The event finished off with a word of thanks from the Moffat View Women’s Network’s Franscinah Mashifana to all stakeholders who helped to make the day a success.

She thanked SAPS, ADC, CPF (sector 3 and 1), EMS, Moffat View Womens Network, SANCA, SOS sure protect, South Hills Clinic, Social Development (city health), Southern Courier, Old Mutual, Spur – The Glen and the Truth and Life Celebration Centre.

The primary schools invited to the Kids Against Crime event were W H Coetzer, Suidheuwels, Montanus, Rosettenville, Highveld, Regents Park, La Rochelle and Crestview.
