A PRIMARY school received the gift of eye tests from the eyesight fairy godmother this week.
Grade One to Seven from Townsview Primary School received a special visit from Execuspecs The Glen who volunteered their time to test learners’ eyes at no cost.
Execuspecs The Glen optometrist Esna Luttig said it was important to identify eye-related issues at an early age.
She said it was in a chance meeting where Townsview teacher Melissa Canavan was getting her eyes checked that Luttig informed Canavan that they did special projects of inspecting learners’ eyes.
Canavan welcomed the idea and the rest was history.
Luttig said they had inspected different schools around the South and were hoping to help more learners.
Canavan said she was just glad the learners could be helped.
She said she too had started wearing glasses at a young age and wanted to pay it forward.
She said some of the learners were nervous but this was all for their benefit.
The learners were tested and letters were provided to those who found it difficult to see as clearly as their peers.
