Car wash owner helps Luke

Rowan Maree, owner of 082 Carwash, read about the family’s plight and Luke’s huge medical account which needs paying and decided to help.

A FUND-RAISER was held for Luke Greybe, who was attacked by 10 pit bulls on September 8, at 082 Carwash at the Panorama Shopping Centre in Mulbarton on October 7.

Luke who lives in Johannesburg South and attends Alberton High School, was visiting his uncle in Walkerville, when the dogs attacked and injured him. He sustained severe nerve damage, severed tendons, a broken arm and a multitude of puncture wounds and lacerations.

Since the attack he has been undergoing treatment at the Netcare Union Hospital. He was discharged last week.

Rowan Maree, owner of 082 Carwash, read about the family’s plight and Luke’s huge medical account which needs paying. Together with teachers and learners from Alberton High School, they organised a fund-raiser at the carwash. “All proceeds from the morning will go towards his hospital account,” said Rowan.

“Luke is an exceptionally brave boy and has done really well so far. We all want to do as much as we can to help him,” added Miss Leigh Loubser (teacher at Alberton High).

According to Althea Greybe, Luke’s mom, R12 500 was raised. “This is fantastic. We’d like to thank Rowan for his wonderful generosity and everyone from the school who came to assist on Saturday.”

If anyone would like to help Luke continue to receive the care he needs, donations can be made to Netcare Union Hospital:
