New Year resolutions – do they help?

The CHRONICLE asked locals if they believe in making New Year resolutions, and here is what they had to say.

The CHRONICLE asked locals if they believe in making New Year resolutions, and here is what they had to say.

LIONEL MENGOBE: “No, because resolutions never work. By the third week people break them and it’s pointless. People don’t stick to their plans, but my resolution is hopefully to get back to the gym.”
PRESTON PILLAY: “I don’t believe in resolutions because you should always set goals for yourself and keep challenging yourself. It doesn’t have to be a new year to set a resolution.”
CYNTHIA MASHAR: “Yes. I believe a new year is a chance to start afresh and end bad habits. I do believe in resolutions because it’s a chance to learn new skills, do good deeds, visit places and explore.”
TAMARA DA SILVA: “I don’t believe in resolutions because normally people set them for a week and the next week it’s back to normal. I have never made resolutions, but always make plans and stick to them.”
