Drugs are bad but violence isn’t the solution

Here is what the local residents had to say.

In the wake of Mogale City’s mayhem, which saw residents take to the streets demanding action against drug dealers, the COURIER asked residents of the South how a similar situation can be prevented.

THEOLENE FRANCIS: “The community must take control of its surroundings and report all drug-related activity. I also urge the police to be visible and active on almost every street in the South.”
RANDEL THOMPSON: “Closing down all known properties where there are drugs will help us to move forward. Ubiquitous raids by police could drive all the drug dealers out of our area.”
QUICY-LEE AUGUST: “Addicts must really seek help. Police must focus mainly on the drug peddlers, and not other addicts. God can help these addicts, but only if they are willing to accept help.”
MANDY WATMOUGH: “CCTV cameras can help a lot in locating the activities of the drug dealers. They need to be installed almost everywhere to monitor dealers’ movements as some are doing it brazenly.”
