Cable theft causes headache for Glenvista residents

Over 95 customers, which feed through the local street distribution cabinets (SDC), are affected by this outage.

OPENSERVE, a subsidiary of the Telkom Group, discovered an incident of cable theft in the Glenvista area.

The theft caused problems for residents in Glenvista and the surrounding communities. Businesses and ATMs were also affected by the outage.

Over 95 customers whose power is fed through the local street distribution cabinets were hit by the outage.

Investigations revealed that the cables had been cut and stolen.

Openserve assured the affected communities and businesses that it would prioritise the replacement of the stolen or damaged cables.

The theft and damage was reported to the SAPS.

Openserve urged the public to be vigilant and to report any suspicious acts.
