The most important apology

You have neglected your dreams to help others build theirs at the expense of yours.

“An apology is a lovely perfume; it can transform the clumsiest moment into a gracious gift.” – Margaret Lee Rumbeck.

One of the hardest things you may ever have to do in life is to deliver an apology. Many people say “I’m sorry” thoughtlessly and heedlessly because they just want to move on or have their own way.

Sadly, this waters down the value of apologies everywhere, which means that when it’s time to apologise to someone you care about, you may struggle to make that person trust your sincerity.

I am often asked by people about how to unshackle the chains and the baggage of the past whilst developing confidence and strength to start afresh. One of the reasons we are emotionally stuck in the past is because we have fallen out of love with ourselves. We have lost trust in ourselves.

Perhaps you have neglected your dreams to help others build theirs at the expense of yours. You must have heard someone saying, “I would kill anyone who touches my loved one, my car, my dog or my money.”

Sadly, I have never heard someone say, “I’ll kill anyone who dares to steal my dream!” It’s time you sincerely apologise to yourself for not believing in the God-given gift that you are. You were not created to be someone else’s toy but are a gift to the world. You were created to unwrap the talents that God gave you and so, your first step should be to find and clarify your real purpose. With that said, write down all the wrongs you have done to yourself. Never mind the tears. Now, sincerely apologise to yourself and get someone to help you challenge yourself and correct these mistakes one at a time, step by step. Confidence and trust will develop in the process and clarity will follow. I believe in your specialness.
