Glenvista Primary gets free internet

“I am incredibly happy to have formed part of this project and also been at the core of the development of this idea up to its fruition.”

ON Friday, August 17, Glenvista Primary School received the activation of free internet connection from Vumatel and Home Connect.

“This is an amazing initiative that seeks to empower our young and inquisitive minds. Young people can now search the internet for any material that can support them in their studies. The use of the internet will also broaden their knowledge and also teach them to access the internet responsibly,” said Ward 23 councillor, Sarah Wissler.

“The Democratic Alliance is passionate about education in this country and as a councillor, I always seek ways to empower my community through partnerships that can offer solutions and development in my community.

“I am incredibly happy to have formed part of this project and also been at the core of the development of this idea up to its fruition. The joy that was felt by all the school learners made it all worth it in the end,” she added.

“I would like to thank all those that made this possible for the school namely, Gansra’s Kim Kotze and Marianne van Dijk who worked behind the scenes on this project, and of course the main service providers Vumatel and Home Connect.

“It is my hope that all schools can have an internet connection. Although this project was only initiated at one school, I am hopeful that this will set a precedent for the future,” concluded Wissler.
