THE Love of Christ Children’s home (TLC) was yet again victim to a burglary when items valued at R21 000 were stolen over the weekend of August 18, 19 and 20.
It’s alleged that the perpetrators broke the razor wire and the fence to gain access to the premises during the three days of robbery. TLC management believes that the suspects that committed the atrocities were multiple. At the time of the break-in, TLC had no alarm systems leaving suspects on a stealing spree.
Groceries that were stolen included pap, rice, sugar, pilchards, tuna, flour, cocoa, premade baking goods, various spices and condiments. All these goods were placed at storage sheds in the TLC premises.
TLC depends on donations from local stores mainly Pick n Pay, individual donations and organisations. This incident has left the TLC in shreds.
“It has left us devastated. We don’t have money to install a beam alarm system to ensure that something of this nature doesn’t happen again. With regards to food, we don’t have anything. We were completely cleaned out.
“CCTV footage has linked several crimes conducted by the same individuals. Therefore SAPS has launched a full investigation and have started accumulating evidence against the perpetrators. Following the incident the TLC will be battling to make ends meet in the couple of weeks to come, said Lionel Abrahams, facility manager.
