Not only does the club boast a revamped bowling club, but also the newly appointed president.
The new president of Herbert Park Bowling Club Tersia Landman, together with committee member Christen Beeby-Stander, recently took the COURIER on tour around the new facility to introduce the paper to their newly appointed club committee.
The new committee, after their appointment on October 6, hit the ground running. They facilitated the refurbishment of the two grounds, decorating the interior walls to look more attractive. The need to revamp and bring the spark back to the club facility came about as a result of requests from bowlers who wanted to play on upgraded greens.
The facility can now host about eight teams on both greens. In every corner of the greens, there are wheelchair ramps to enable disabled people to gain easy access to the greens, and enable them to take part in competitions.
COURIER was shown an entertainment site for guests and players.
There is also a facility for children to play while their parents are on the greens.
The facility includes a hall, a kitchen, four toilets (two for men and two for women), a full bar with 15 tables, four braai stands and trees.
“This place is for everyone. People should feel free to come in and enjoy themselves. That’s what Herbert Park Bowling Club is about. Every year we host events that benefit the community by giving food parcels,” said Tersia.
The most attractive facility is the remembrance garden. Members can plug in their relatives’ names on the garden, but only if they played at the club.
