Why self awareness matters
The world is screaming to stop abuse and violence against others whereas there’s deafening silence about the abuse and violence against the self.

“Comparison is the act of violence against the self.” – Iyanla Vanzant.
One of the most difficult exams in life is knowing yourself.
The major reason most people fail this exam is that they try to copy others, not realising everyone has a different question paper. So, copying others is denying your own thoughts and ideas to come out because of wanting to appear correct and relevant.
Your main fear shouldn’t be that your life will come to an end but that it will never have a beginning. That’s what should give you nightmares. That your ideas and thoughts will remain trapped and imprisoned within you until the end of time. So, what makes you different? What makes you unique? A rose can never be a sunflower as much as a sunflower can never be a rose but all flowers are beautiful in their own special way.
The world is screaming to stop abuse and violence against others whereas there’s deafening silence about the abuse and violence against the self.
Self-knowledge is not part of the school curriculum but should appear on top of your own personal curriculum. Self-knowledge comes with a certain level of acceptance and helps you recognise when a phase, job, a life stage, or a relationship is over and let it go. It helps you allow yourself to gracefully exit situations you’ve outgrown. Moving on shouldn’t be a catastrophic event. When you know yourself better, you can simply choose to move forward with peace and clarity. What makes life interesting is uniqueness, not sameness.
Apart from the school or imposed curriculum, what does your own personal curriculum look like? Do you have any? I am talking about those things you have to learn about yourself, especially those that make you unique.
