FOLLOWING a series of both house and business robberies around Moffat View and the surrounding suburbs, police finally made a breakthrough by arresting six of the most wanted suspects on November 21.
They were traced and arrested for various warrants of arrests following the establishment of a Task Team to focus on violent crimes.
Meanwhile, in another incident police apprehended four suspects following the kidnapping of an 11-year-old boy in Unigray.
Moffat View police communications officer Capt Jeff Phora said the police tracked the suspects through their cellphones as they demanded ransom money (about R31 000) and arrested them at the corner of Joe Slovo and Hedson streets, Yeoville.
All four suspects are expected to appear before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on both charges of kidnapping and extortion soon.
The boy was safely handed back to his parents by police.
